Woensdag 21 december om 17 uur is de feestelijke opening van de reizende buitenexpositie ‘Kleuren van Zuidoost’ op het Bullewijkpad in Bijlmer-West. ‘Kleuren van Zuidoost is een initiatief van HOBU en etaleert de rijke diversiteit van Amsterdam-Zuidoost. Vijftien levensgrote borden tonen foto’s van Lesly Adu en Paco Nunez met geluidsfragmenten door Elvis Penuel die gemaakt zijn tijdens de vijfde editie van de SouthEast Parade in Amsterdam Zuidoost.
Samen vormen de borden een verplaatsbare expositie van portretten en sfeerimpressies in de openbare ruimte die het komend jaar op verschillende plaatsen in Amstel III te zien is. Geëxposeerd worden bewoners, culturele instanties en maatschappelijke organisaties die samen Zuidoost maken. De expositie is een initiatief van HOBU en gemaakt in samenwerking met Vinger.nl, Speak Up, Stichting SouthEast Parade en markeert het eerste lustrum van de SouthEast Parade én de eerste keer dat de parade door het Brasapark en Bijlmer-West liep.
Placemaking
Amstel III of Bijlmer-West is een gebied in transformatie. Komende jaren worden in dit kantoorgebied 10.000 nieuwe woningen gebouwd. Deze expositie geeft nu al kleur aan dit gebied en legt de verbinding met de andere buurten in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Daarmee is de expositie onderdeel van het placemaking-programma dat onder de naam HOBU in opdracht van Gemeente Amsterdam wordt uitgevoerd door Sparks Production en Pop-Up City.
Eerbetoon aan Roy Ristie
Tevens is het een tribute aan de geestelijk vader van de SouthEast Parade: Roy Ristie, die in 2018 de parade bedacht en eind 2021 op 68-jarige leeftijd onverwachts overleed: “Roy Ristie werd volgens door landelijke media betiteld als de officieuze burgemeester van Zuidoost. Een icoon en tevens spraakmakend politicus.” Aldus Roshnie Phoelsingh, directeur van de SouthEast Parade. “Een onvermoeibaar en bevlogen mens die het sinds de jaren ’70 tot zijn levensmissie maakte om onrecht, burgerparticipatie en diversiteit een stem en een gezicht te geven in Amsterdam en daarbuiten. En dat deed hij via diverse multimediale kanalen, waarvan de SouthEast Parade er een is. Tijdens zijn laatste minuten op deze aarde, deed hij een dringend beroep op zijn opvolger om dit voort te zetten.”

Mobile outdoor exhibition ‘Colours of Southeast’ is a tribute to the ‘semi official mayor of Southeast’.
Wednesday 21 December 17 hrs is the festive opening of the traveling outdoor exhibition ‘Colours of Southeast’ on the Bullewijkpad in Bijlmer-West. ‘Colours of Southeast is an initiative of HOBU and showcases the rich diversity of Amsterdam Southeast. Fifteen life-size plates show photos by Lesly Adu and Paco Nunez with sound clips by Elvis Penuel, made during the fifth edition of the SouthEast Parade in Amsterdam Zuidoost.
Together, these panels form a movable exhibition of portraits and impressions of the atmosphere in the public space that will be on display at various locations in Amstel III next year. On display are residents, cultural institutions and social organizations that together form Zuidoost. The exhibition is an initiative of HOBU and made in collaboration with Finger.nl, Speak Up, Stichting SouthEast Parade and marks the first lustrum of the SouthEast Parade and the first time that the parade passed through the Brasapark and Bijlmer-West.
Placemaking
Amstel III or Bijlmer-West is an area in transformation. In the coming years, 10,000 new homes will be built in this office area. This exhibition already gives color to this area and establishes a connection with the other neighborhoods in Amsterdam Southeast. This makes the exhibition part of the placemaking program that is being carried out under the name HOBU by Sparks Production and Pop-Up City on behalf of the Municipality of Amsterdam.
Tribute to Roy Ristie
It is also a tribute to the spiritual father of the SouthEast Parade: Roy Ristie, who invented the South East parade in 2018 and died unexpectedly at the age of 68 at the end of 2021: “Roy Ristie was referred to by national media as the unofficial mayor of Southeast. An icon and also a controversial politician.” According to Roshnie Phoelsingh, director of the SouthEast Parade. “A tireless and passionate person who has made it his life’s mission since the 1970s to give injustice, citizen participation and diversity a voice and a face in Amsterdam and beyond. And he did so through various multimedia channels, of which the SouthEast Parade is one. During his last minutes on this earth, he made an urgent appeal to his successor to continue this.”
